About the club

📌 Club Identity & Structure

  • The club is a not-for-profit junior sporting organisation incorporated in New South Wales, dedicated to promoting youth cricket. It was originally incorporated in December 1996.
  • Its official name for many years was Port Macquarie Junior Cricket Club Incorporated (PMJCC) and in 2024, members voted to change the incorporated name to “Port Macquarie Cricket Club Incorporated” (PMCC) and update the constitution to broaden the club’s scope, including potential future senior cricket participation.

🏏 Affiliations

  • PMJCC/PMCC is affiliated with the Hastings River District Junior Cricket Association (HRDJCA) and the Mid North Coast Cricket Council (MNCCC), which organise junior competitions and representative opportunities in the region.
  • PMCC is also proud to be in a pathway partnership with the Port Pirates Cricket Club, formalised under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) commencing in the 2025–26 season. This partnership provides our junior players with a seamless transition into senior cricket, ensuring clear development pathways, continued skill progression, and strong club alignment as players advance from junior to senior competition within the local cricket community.

🧒 Role & Activities

  • The club runs junior cricket programs and teams for local children and teenagers (typically from under-10s through to under-16s), offering pathways in modified game formats suited to age and skill.
  • It participates in regular competitions, carnival events, and organised matches such as invitational under-14 contests against other associations.

💡 Community Presence

  • Local news coverage from Port Macquarie News and NBN News from 2017 highlighted the club’s community footprint — at that time PMJCC received grants and sponsorships (e.g., from the Commonwealth Bank) to support equipment and junior development.
  • The club has grown to register around 200-250 junior players in some seasons and actively uses Stuarts Park, Woods Street and Tuffins Lane Sporting Precincts and other local grounds for competitions.

🏆 HRDJCA Competition Recognition

  • Under 11 - Spencer Family Shield

Barry's dad George and mum Judy were key drivers and organisers of junior cricket in our area in the 1980's and early 90's. Barry has continued this legacy. Unfortunately George is deceased but if Judy or Barry were available to present the Under 11 Shield on GF day that would be great.

  • Under 12 - Gavin Newbound Shield

Administrator in the Nat Jordan mould( could basically do anything in that area) in early 2000's to around 2016.Past President of Port juniors when they had over 30 teams( and HRDJCA had 45 teams). Secured grants of over $50 000 to get WR turf established. First North Coast Coastal Zone Female Academy administrator. He actively recruited female cricketers across the zone and in the years of his involvement 2010 -2016 North Coastal Zone dominated NSW Country Cricket Female Carnivals.

  • Under 13 - Merv Bourke Shield

    ...

  • Under 14 - Judy Fowler Shield

In the 1990's Judy basically carried junior cricket in Wauchope area on her own. Very much in the Di Warren mould and gave everything she had for any junior cricketer from Wauchope or anywhere else. Died of cancer in her mid 40's. Her son Brian is a life member of Wauchope CC and we should get him to present the shield at next years GF's.

  • Under 16 - Nat Jordan Shield

Think we all know what her massive contributions to junior cricket have been. Junior cricket like other junior sports has quite a quick turnover in personal but that doesn't mean those who have significantly contributed to what we have today should be forgotten.
